Web2D and 3D lattice Boltzmann codes for fluid flow in a lid-driven cavity. We explored possibilities to run it on the GPU of a personal computer, and we investigated GPU speedup factors. Next we developed a lattice Boltzmann code for simulation of sound waves. Various acoustic phenomena were WebWith ULB =0.1, the lid moves over 0.1 lattice unit per time step and it thus takes L ULB LB =200 time steps for the lid to move once over the cavity. The Courant number of this simulation is C U t x= ∆∆=LB 0.1. This is much smaller than the typically used values of C ≈0.8 in explicit time stepping finite difference or finite volume solvers.
