WebChronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a neurological disorder that causes progressive weakness and impaired sensory function in the legs and arms. Symptoms often include tingling or numbness (first in the toes and fingers), weakness of the arms and legs, loss of deep tendon reflexes, fatigue, and abnormal sensations. WebCIDP affects men twice as often as women. The number of new cases of CIDP that occur each year in the United States and throughout the world is small. Only one and half to three and half people per million develop CIDP each year. The ongoing peripheral nerve damage from CIDP can extend over many years and even decades.
